In Iowa, graduation from ABA-accredited law school is required to sit for the bar exam.
The MEE portion of the examination consists of questions selected by the board from the following subjects:

- Contracts (including Uniform Commercial Code (Sales) (Art. 2))
- Federal civil procedure
- Real property
- Torts
- Trusts and Estates
- Decedents’ estates
- Trusts and future interests
Multi State Performance Test (MPT) consists of two ninety-minute sessions, and one performance test question per session. Multi State Bar Examination (MBE) consists of two three-hour sessions and 100 multiple choice questions per session. Bar application fee is $325.00.
